I love portraits because of the memories they hold and the stories they tell us about the people in them. My favorite photo in my family is a portrait of my brother as a toddler, with a giant smile and a face covered in bright orange, because he would only sit for a photo if he was given his favorite orange candy. It’s the kind of photo that parents and family are often upset about during the photo shoot, but years later it becomes a family treasure, because it comes with a sincere story that’s full of emotion. Every time my family retells the story, we all have smiles on our faces and feel a connection and nostalgia that is priceless.  I aim to capture those imperfect and beautifully human moments that will increase in value over time. The feedback I hear most often is that I create a calm atmosphere. It’s in my nature. I’m quiet.

Family Portraits starting at $350 for 10 images
I have 10 years experience doing family portraits.  My style is to give as little direction as possible, because the best moments are candid. I will do a limited number of poses if requested, but for the most part, however you naturally stand or sit or hold your child is what looks best. I’ll find the best light and angle wherever we are and I’ll let you know if there’s a small detail to fix, like moving some hair out of a face or adjusting a collar. All family portraits are done on location in an outdoor setting, meaning we can go to a park I am familiar with shooting at, or a location you and your family enjoy. There is no additional charge for travel if you live in the Portland Metro area.

Rates start at $350 for a shoot up to two hours in length and my pick of the best 10 images on a disc with a copy release. Each image is post-processed to optimize color and lighting, as well as an additional artistic black and white processing of the same image. In addition I will include any adorable candids or personal moments between poses, these will be edited to suit the mood of the photo and are most often in black and white. I do not offer prints at this time, but you are able to make prints from your disc. I include a copy release that allows you to make as many prints as you like. I am happy to offer advice or help with finding a good place to print your photos.

Digital paintings and fine art pieces are available for an additional charge.

Weddings starting at $350 per hour of shooting
You’d probably like it more if you had a main photographer getting all the formal shots done and then hired me to walk around for an hour and catch candids and emotional moments. Or is that just what I prefer? I’m quiet. I don’t command large groups, but I do excel at sneaking around catching moments.

The Fine Print:
1. I select the best shots and leave out the bad shots. I’m sorry, you cannot see the originals. I’m sorry, you cannot see the images I excluded. They are either a blurry shot of the sky when I lost my balance, or you don’t look good in them, so I did us all a favor and I deleted them. You’re welcome. I’m saying this up front because there are some clients who love that they don’t have to be stuck choosing images and prefer someone with an eye for it pick the best images, and if that’s you, we should work together. If you’re the type that prefers absolute choice, I can relate to that, but I cannot accommodate it.  My average editing time is somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks (depending on the size of the shoot).
2. I’m physically limited in some ways, so please warn me ahead of time if there will be a lot of stairs, climbing, or hiking, or if I will need to sit on a hard surface for a long period of time. I am a delicate flower growing in an eggshell. (I’m a cancer survivor)
3. Payments are made in full at the time of the shoot. I accept cash only at our first shoot. For amounts larger than $200 I can accept payments via paypal with an e-mailed receipt.
4. Because of the nature of photography, and the time, emotion, and expertise that goes into creating, I am unable to offer refunds for my services. I will, however, make any effort to fix any problems that arise. Go to the top menu and click on “testimonials” if you’re not sure. I don’t advertise my photography as it is not the main focus of my business, so chances are you’re here because you saw a friend’s photos. If you liked the quality of your friend’s photos, you’re going to like the quality of what I do for you.
